As of July 2014, any fabricated steel structure or building that has been designed and manufactured either in the UK or imported for final erection within most European states, must be compliant to BS EN 1090-2:2008+A1:2011 in accordance with European law. Damper Technology Ltd (DTL) products quite often form part of a chimney stack, and may therefore be identified as part of a “steel structure”. DTL achieved this standard, for the supply of dampers up to Execution Class 2 (EXC2) in April 2014.
More recently, DTL have noted an increase in the number customers asking for dampers to be supplied up to Execution Class 3 (EXC3), therefore, they applied and have successfully achieved this accreditation as an extension to scope of their original certificate in June 2017.
Requirements for compliance to this extension to scope from the previous EXC2 certificate include now working to the Comprehensive Quality requirements of BS EN3834-2:2005, tighter acceptance criteria for Welding (Level B), full material traceability (not Partial as before) and higher level of NDT requirements. All of this has brought about ensuring our Factory Production Control System remains at a consistently high level, which has been aided by the move to more modern facilities, following the relocation of DTL’s manufacturing operation from Leicester to Eastwood, Nottingham, earlier this year.
Mark Hancock, DTL’s MD said “The Production & Health & Safety Team have worked very hard to achieve this standard as increasingly more of our valued customers have been asking for this standard prior to ordering dampers in today’s competitive market. DTL took the decision to respond by updating our already stringent procedures and gaining this standard as our commitment to giving our customers what the market now demands.”
